Ecovative is honored to be named one of “America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs” for 2011 by Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Over the past three months, their reporters and editors narrowed the more than 200 suggestions they received to 25 private, for-profit social enterprises. They selected companies by examining their impact, innovation, and business success.
The DuPont Packaging Awards are the industry’s longest running, independently judged celebration of innovation and collaboration throughout the value chain. Each year, an esteemed panel awards diamond, gold, and silver honors based on excellence in one or all of three categories: Innovation; Sustainability; and Cost/Waste Reduction. EcoCradle™ was selected for the highest Diamond Award from a field of more than 200 entries from 26 countries.
“We are honored to be recognized by DuPont with this award,” said Eben Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of Ecovative. “Materials like EcoCradle™ Mushroom® packaging offer unique advantages to distributers and consumers alike, and we are pleased that DuPont continues to recognize the most innovative and sustainable solutions to the global packaging challenges of our time.”
“The Packaging Awards program is an opportunity to celebrate how collaborating throughout the value chain can bring cost-effective innovation to the market to help solve the big issues,” said Shanna Moore, global director sustainable packaging, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. “EcoCradle™ protective secondary packaging captures the spirit of innovation to resolve complex global challenges.”
Ecovative’s own Sam Harrington was a featured speaker at the recent TEDxGrandRapids event at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre on May 12, 2011. His presentation, entitled “Ultra-Rapid Renewables,” is available on YouTube.
